In engine replacement, you will spend the most if you choose a brand new engine which is also referred to as a crate engine. Crate engines are almost exactly the same as your vehicle’s original engine. Sometimes, the manufacturer may even include upgrades. It arrives with a warranty and ready to be installed.
Less expensive than a crate engine is the remanufactured engine which is a used engine that has undergone a total overhaul. It has been rebuilt to not only meet but even exceed the standards of original equipment manufacturer engines. Because the remanufactured engine has been recycled, it is seen as more eco-friendly. It also arrives with a warranty and ready to be installed.
The third option which is simply any used engine is not an advisable choice. Without being remanufactured, this does not have any warranties at all and is completely risky.
